Itinerary

Your 9 nights 10 days North East tour begins with arrival at Guwahati. As soon as you land at Guwahati, you will be assisted by our representative to transfer to Shillong, also called ‘Scotland of the East’.

On the way to Shillong, enjoy a stopover at Umiam Lake (Barapani). It is one of the biggest artificial lakes in Meghalaya. The lake is beautifully surrounded by sylvan hills and green Khasi-pines. Boating is one of the most preferred activities at the lake. If you reach here by early evening, don’t miss out on the opportunity to witness a spectacular sunset while boating in the calm water.

Arrive at Shillong in the evening and check in at the hotel. Late evening you can visit the local market.

Overnight stay at Shillong.

Savour a healthy breakfast at the hotel in Shillong and get ready for an exciting day excursion to Cherrapunjee.

Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra is known for its gigantic waterfalls and serene beauty. Begin your exploration by first visiting Nohkalikai Falls. Admire the beauty of the tallest plunge waterfall in India at 340 metres (1115 feet) height. It is also the 4th highest waterfall in the world. The waterfall is extremely captivating with mind-blowing landscape.

Next head to the Seven Sisters Falls (also known as Nohsngithiang Falls). The waterfall is famous for its spectacular sunsets which showcases illuminated waterfall, vibrant sky and beautiful panorama. The waterfall is popular for its unique seven-stream feature.

Later, you can also explore some of the caves in and around Cherrapunjee. One of the notable ones is – Mawsmai Cave. It is popular for its unique limestone formations and fossils. Another stunning natural cave is – Arwah Cave. The cave beautifully overlooks steep waterfalls and offers mesmerising views of the mountain.

After a day excursion to Cherrapunjee, head back to Shillong in the evening. En route, visit Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak for some breathtaking views. Elephant Falls is also referred to as ‘The Three-Step Waterfall’, as you will see three different parts of the fall here. Shillong Peak offers breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding hills from atop the highest point in Shillong.

Overnight stay at Shillong.

Begin the 3rd day of your 9 nights 10 days Northeast holiday with a healthy breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, head out to explore the city of Shillong.

Visit Don Bosco Museum. It is one of the most high-tech museums in India. It houses social, cultural and economic elements of life in Northeast India, specifically focusing on traditional art, music, and dance.

Next, head to Ward’s Lake, a serene and cosy inner-city lake. Here you can enjoy boating and a leisure walk on the famous wooden bridge, while soaking in the views of colourful paddle boats and the lush botanical garden that surrounds it. You can also visit the Botanical Garden to check out an array of exotic and indigenous plants and floral specimens.

Your next stop would be Lady Hydari Park, also known as Phan Nonglait Park. It is one of the most popular outdoor recreational areas in Shillong. The well-laid park features beautiful flower beds, walking paths, and a mini zoo, making it a popular destination for families and nature lovers.

In the evening, you can either visit the Police Bazaar for some heartfelt shopping or indulge in leisure activities. Overnight stay in Shillong.

After morning breakfast, check out from the Shillong hotel and transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of the one-horned Rhinoceros.

Check in at your respective lodge or resort. Spend the evening at leisure and have a peaceful sleep. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Wake up to an exciting day ahead and gear up to explore the western zone of Kaziranga National Park on the back of an elephant. Get the opportunity to spot the animals in their natural habitat, for the park is home to the world’s endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, half the world’s population of genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes, over 1000 Wild Elephants and a dense population of Royal Bengal Tigers.

The park is also home to a wide variety of birds, including the Crested Serpent Eagle, Palla’s Fishing Eagle, Grey-headed Fishing Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Bar-headed goose, whistling Teal, Bengal Florican, Storks, Herons and Pelicans.

After exploring the western zone of the park, head back to the resort for breakfast. Later, head for an exciting jeep safari through the central zone of the park. Exploring the park on a jeep safari is an experience that should not be missed.

After exploring the park’s central zone, transfer to Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh. On the way, visit Nag Temple, which stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Monpa tribe in Singchung. Also, enjoy a stopover at Asia’s third-largest Orchidarium at Tipi. Here you can witness over 7500 orchids from a collection of about 300 species.

On reaching Dirang, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay in Dirang.

Start the 6th day of your 10-day Northeast holidays with a wholesome breakfast in the hotel. Today, you will explore Dirang in the morning and then transfer to Tawang.

Early morning, visit the Dirang River to soak in some scenic views and enjoy boating opportunities in this calm and beautiful river. You can also take a long leisurely walk, or just enjoy the sights and sounds of nature at its very best.

Dirang is famous for its Apple Orchards, so make it a point to visit them. You can walk through the lush apple orchards, taste fresh apples just plucked from trees, and interact with local farmers.

The next place on your itinerary is Dirang Monastery. This peaceful monastery boasts prayer buildings painted in various bright colours and offers a vantage view of the valley below. Tourists can watch the monks’ day-to-day activities, such as their prayer activities, and even indulge in the doctrines of Tibetan Buddhism.

After exploring Dirang, leave for Tawang. En route, enjoy a stopover at the Sela Pass, the world’s second-highest pass. The pass offers a stunning landscape as it runs through a small ridge and along a placid lake called Paradise Lake.

Visit the National Yak Research and Breeding Centre, where you can learn about Yak husbandry. Get to understand the Yak biology, breeding practices, and healthcare system around them. You can also observe Yak milking demonstrations and see how cheese and butter are made from Yak milk.

On the way, you can also explore Dirang’s Natural Hot Water Spring. These natural springs are known for their therapeutic properties that aid in soothing aching muscles and relaxing the mind. Spend some time soaking in these springs, and you will feel rejuvenated.

Next, visit the Jaswant Garh, a memorial to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Indo-China War of 1962.

Now, drive straight to Tawang. On arrival, check in at your hotel and grab enough rest. Overnight stay in Tawang.

Have a delicious morning breakfast and step out to explore beautiful places in and around Tawang.

Begin your Tawang exploration with a visit to the War Memorial, a poignant tribute to the brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1962 Indo-China war, offering a moving audiovisual experience and panoramic views of the Tawang valley.

Next, stop by the Handicrafts Centre, where you can witness local artisans at work and shop for traditional Monpa handicrafts, including woollen carpets, masks, and wooden artifacts.

Continue to the 6th Dalai Lama’s Birthplace, nestled in the serene village of Urgelling, where the spiritual aura and peaceful surroundings offer a glimpse into the legacy of Tsangyang Gyatso, known for his poetry and unique life story.

Conclude your day with a visit to the magnificent Tawang Monastery, a 300-year-old architectural marvel perched at 10,000 feet, renowned as the second largest Buddhist monastery in the world after Lhasa’s Potala and a center of spiritual learning and meditation.

Overnight stay at the hotel in Tawang.

Wake up to a healthy breakfast spread. Post a hearty breakfast, prepare to check out from the hotel, as today you will depart for Bhalukpong. Bhalukpong is on the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and is known for its scenic beauty.

Once you arrive at Bhalukpong, straight away check in at your designated hotel. Overnight stay in Bhalukpong.

This is the last day of your 9 nights 10 days Northeast tour package. Begin the day early and visit the famous Nameri National Park, i.e. home to the extinct species of White Winged Wood duck and other species like the Bengal tiger, Indian elephant, clouded leopard, wild boar, gaur, and various species of deer. The park is also home to a variety of birds, including several species of hornbills. The park is a bird watcher’s and an ornithologist’s paradise.

Later, head back to the hotel for a wholesome breakfast. After breakfast, you will pack your bags and complete your check-out formalities.

In the afternoon, proceed to Guwahati and with everlasting memories, transfer to Guwahati airport or railway station for onward journey.
