Note: Most Arunachal Pradesh tours are often combined with visits to other Northeastern states. Even if you go for an “all-Arunachal tour”, the journey begins from Assam which gives you more sights to explore along the way.
The Arunachal Pradesh tours start from 6 days to 9 days, and you can always seek customization on the said packages. Our travel experts will add or remove activities/attractions based on your liking. So book your Arunachal Pradesh tour packages 2026 from anywhere in India with just a click of a button and leave the rest to us.
Here is why you should book Arunachal Pradesh tours with eSikkim Tourism:
Arunachal Pradesh is the kind of destination that filters out the underprepared and thoroughly rewards everyone else. It is India’s largest northeastern state, sharing borders with China, Bhutan, and Myanmar. Its landscapes range from subtropical river valleys to high-altitude Himalayan passes, and its cultural diversity, over 26 major tribes speaking distinct languages, is matched by almost nowhere else in the country. The planning, however, starts before you pack.
Every Indian citizen requires an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) in addition to a standard Indian visa. The ILP is obtained through the state government’s official e-ILP portal (eilp.arunachal.gov.in), and online applications are the most reliable method. There is no on-arrival ILP facility for tourists, so applying at least one to two weeks before travel is strongly recommended, especially during peak season (October to March) when processing times stretch. Specific restricted areas such as Tawang require an additional permit check at the Bhalukpong checkpoint.
Tawang Monastery sits at 3,048 metres above sea level and is the largest Buddhist monastery in India, and the second largest in the world after the Potala in Lhasa. What most itineraries do not mention is that Tawang is also the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, born here in 1683. The monastery is an active centre of Gelug Buddhist learning, not a museum piece, and visiting during Torgya Festival (January) or Losar (Tibetan New Year, February to March) means witnessing masked Cham dances and rituals that have continued for centuries.
The drive to Tawang crosses Sela Pass at 4,170 metres, one of the highest motorable passes in India. The Sela Tunnel, the longest bi-lane tunnel in the world at approximately 13,000 feet altitude, now provides all-weather connectivity between Assam and Tawang, reducing weather-related road closures significantly. This has meaningfully changed the reliability of Tawang itineraries, particularly in the shoulder months of April and October.
Ziro Valley, on the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage recognition, is a flat, emerald-green plateau at 1,500 metres, home to the Apatani tribe. The Apatani practise a rice-fish farming system unlike anything else in the Northeast: fish are raised directly within the paddy fields using a centuries-old canal irrigation method that has kept the valley’s soil fertile without chemical inputs. Among older Apatani women, the traditional practice of facial tattooing and large circular nose plugs (yaping hullo) is still visible in the villages of Hong and Hari, though younger generations have moved away from it.
Ziro is also home to the Ziro Music Festival every September, a four-day independent music event set against the paddy fields that draws artists from across India and internationally. If your travel window allows, it is one of the most atmospheric festival experiences in the country.
Planning an Arunachal Pradesh trip well, from permit timelines to choosing between Tawang and Ziro or combining both, is something our travel experts at eSikkim Tourism are well-placed to help with. We can put together a bespoke Arunachal Pradesh itinerary that accounts for your travel dates, the permit requirements, and the right balance of high-altitude adventure and tribal culture. Get in touch and we will plan it with you.
The best places for Arunachal Pradesh tours include mountain passes, valleys, waterfalls, lakes, villages, and monasteries.

Arunachal Pradesh shares borders with China, Bhutan, and Myanmar hence the government is protective of movement in the state. An Indian citizen requires both ILP and government-issued ID proof to enter the state. Entry points like Bhalukpong and Gumto have checkpoints where officials check your ILP.
An Indian citizen can obtain a tourist ILP online, or from designated Resident Commissioner’s offices (located in major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati) or directly at entry check-posts. An ILP costs ₹300 per person (for 3 days) and ₹500 per person (for 4 to 14 days).
The Arunachali culinary tradition leans towards meat and fish based dishes with plentiful leafy vegetables. Arunachali cuisine uses an interesting mix of freshly sourced ingredients and dried, fermented items to bring out flavour and texture in the dish. Arunachal Pradesh food is light, cooked with minimal species and is packed with flavours. Here are the staple food eaten in Arunachal Pradesh:
Rice – Rice is a staple food eaten in different forms such as boiled rice, steamed rice cakes, and also serves as a base dish.
Pehak – One of the most popular dishes in Arunachal Pradesh, Pehak is made from fermented soya bean and served with a spicy chutney made from king chilly.
Bamboo shoot – A Bamboo shoot is a commonly used ingredient in Arunachali cooking. It has a unique aroma and texture and when infused with other ingredients it acts as a flavour enhancer. Bamboo shoot is full of fibre and nutrients, it is used in curries, pickles, and stews.
Chura Sabji – It is comfort food for vegetarians, made with fermented cheese known as Chhurpi and vegetable.
Khapse – A sweet biscuit made during Losar celebrations and weddings, it originated from Arunachal’s Tawang region.
Koat Pitha – A sweet fritter made with a batter of rice flour and mashed bananas, sometimes sweetened with jaggery and deep fried until golden brown.

Tawang was never on our honeymoon list, until eSikkim convinced us otherwise.
Best. Decision. Ever. Sangestar Lake (we kept calling it Madhuri Lake like the locals) looked like something painted, not real. Standing at the China border together at Bumla Pass at 15,200 feet felt surreal. And the Tawang Monastery at golden hour? Completely speechless. Our guide Tashi arranged a quiet corner at the monastery just for us, away from the tourist rush.
Even the drive over Sela Pass through the mist felt like the world slowing down for us. eSikkim handled every permit, every transfer, every little detail. We just had to show up and fall in love with the place, all over again.

We travelled with three generations: grandparents, parents, and two very energetic kids.
Thankfully eSikkim somehow made it work beautifully. Dirang was amazing – the Kalachakra Monastery was peaceful and stunning, the apple orchards had the kids completely charmed, and the hot springs at the end of a long day were exactly what the grandparents needed. The Tipi Orchidarium was a surprise favourite. Nobody expected to love orchids that much! Guide Hige Tachang had infinite patience with our chaotic group and made sure everyone was comfortable.
Bomdila's monasteries were a calm, beautiful finale. eSikkim kept logistics airtight. No stress, no confusion. This is exactly how a family holiday should feel.

One trip. Zero regrets. eSikkim took us over Sela Pass at 13,700 feet and then if that wasn't enough we went up to Bumla Pass at 15,200 feet, right on the India-China border.
Nuranang Falls hit differently when you're already running on mountain adrenaline. The Sela Lake frozen and still, the war memorial at Jaswant Garh giving you actual goosebumps. Our itinerary was built for people who want to feel something.
Our guide Dorjee knew every story behind every landmark and made sure we were acclimatised and safe the whole way. eSikkim handled the Inner Line Permits well. If high altitude adventure is your thing, this trip delivers perfectly. Don't overthink it, people, just go.

Tawang was obviously the highlight of our group trip. The monastery is massive and ancient. It just feels different in person. We spent an entire afternoon at Pankang Teng Tso Lake doing absolutely nothing and it was perfect. The local craft market near Tawang War Memorial? Our wallets didn't survive.
Our guide Tashi was a gem, knowledgeable and hilarious, and somehow kept six very opinionated adults on schedule. The Urgeling Gompa had a quiet energy none of us expected. Drives were long but the views made every minute worth it. eSikkim runs a tight, well-planned show. Already planning a repeat with more friends.

eSikkim puts together a genuinely impressive Arunachal circuit and the highlights, Tawang Monastery, Sangestar Lake, Bumla Pass lived up to expectations. Guide Tashi was warm, well-informed, and easy to travel with. The drive from Bomdila is slightly brutal and we felt the Tawang sightseeing days were slightly over-packed; Bumla Pass deserved more time than it got.
These aren't dealbreakers, but worth knowing before you book. The rest of the tour is exceptional. A little more breathing room in the schedule would make this package outstanding rather than just good.

The Arunachal stretch of this eSikkim package is genuinely worth doing. Dirang's hot springs, the Kalachakra Monastery, and the sheer drama of Sela Pass are all exactly as spectacular as advertised. Guide Dorjee was knowledgeable and helpful with Inner Line Permit formalities, which can be confusing for first-timers.
The accommodation was clean and functional. The core experience is solid; eSikkim should consider an optional slower-paced variant for travellers who want less ticking-off and more immersive experiences.
