Itinerary

Begin your 6 nights7 days Meghalaya tour package with an arrival in Guwahati’s railway station or airport. Meet our representative, who will help you transfer from Guwahati to Chandigre via private transport.

The five-hour road journey takes you through the thickly forested hills of the Garo Hills. Chandigre village is a picturesque village known for its lush green landscapes, rich culture, and the unique lifestyle of the Garo tribe.

On arriving Chandigre village, head to the selected resort from the package and complete your check-in formalities. Explore the serene natural beauty of Meghalaya and experience rural life at its best. You can also indulge in exploring the local architecture and different traditional motifs that the village is famous for.

Overnight stay at Chandigre.

Have a wholesome breakfast at the resort and prepare for an adventurous day ahead.
Today you will be trekking through the thick slopes and verdant landscape of Nokrek National Park. It is a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve spread across an area of 47,000 hectares. The park showcases diverse ecosystems, ranging from tropical and subtropical forests to grasslands and savannas. It is a treasure trove for nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, and history buffs alike.

The 6 hours guided trekking inside the biosphere will take you deep inside the rainforests, meandering through villages, passing through beautiful waterfalls, rivers and bridges along with a dense canopy of trees.

The trek will also allow you to observe the wildlife of the region in their natural habitat. You will get to spot red panda, Asian elephants, and clouded leopards. It is also home to the rare Hoolock Gibbon. The park also has a rich diversity of bird species, including the great Indian hornbill and various migratory birds.

Overnight stay at Chandigre.

Have a wholesome breakfast at the hotel and prepare to check out. Today you will be heading for a road trip to the Khasi hills and your end destination will be Shillong. On the way, you will get to explore several attractions.

You will be taking the beautiful Tura – Nongstoin Highway to reach Shillong. It is one of the most beautiful highways in the region. It will take you through the charming stretches of forests, lush landscapes of the Garo Hills and the highland meadows and pine groves of the West Khasi Hills.

En route, enjoy a stopover at Nongstoin or Mairang towns where you can indulge in local cuisine.

On reaching Shillong, you may explore the local area by visiting Police Bazaar, a popular market where you can do shopping or enjoy local food. You can do cafe-hopping around the town.

Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 4 of your 7 days Meghalaya tour itinerary starts with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Today, you will be transferring from Shillong to Sohra (commercially known as Cherrapunjee). It is recommended to begin your day early today.

Head towards the south of Shillong town to Mawphlang to reach the famous ancient Sacred Groves. It is an important cultural and natural site for the Khasis. The untouched forest still retains its significance today and is the soul of Khasi culture.

After exploring Mawphlang, get back on the Shillong – Sohra state highway and continue driving towards Sohra (Cherrapunjee). On the way, enjoy a stopover at Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point and Arwah Cave.

Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point is a beautiful vantage point offering a panoramic view of the Valley. The sloping hills from both sides of the valley provide a stunning V formation, making it a perfect backdrop for clicking pictures. You can even enjoy the valley view from up with a zip lining activity.

Arwah Caves is another must-visit attraction near Sohra. It is a natural cave system hidden amidst green foliage and is popular for its stalagmites, stalactites and fossil formations. These limestone caves are said to be one of the most beautiful and well-preserved in the region.

Continue your drive to Sohra. If you reach Sohra on time, you can enjoy a sunset at the fascinating Nohsngithiang Falls (also known as Seven Sisters Falls). The waterfall is famous for its spectacular sunsets.

Overnight stay at Sohra.

On the 5th day of your 6 nights 7 days Meghalaya holiday package, you will explore in and around Sohra and head to Mawlynnong, but after having a delicious breakfast spread at the hotel.

Sohra is undoubtedly the land of waterfalls. You will find awe-inspiring falls amidst serene nature’s setting. Discover two of the most popular falls in Sohra – Dain Thlen Falls and Wei-Sawdong Falls. The former is known for its strong cascade surrounded by river-bed flats and natural rock pools and the latter is known for its charismatic three-tiered fall and panoramic surroundings.

If you are craving more waterfall exploration, head to the Nohkalikai Falls. It is one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India and a must visit attraction around Sohra.

Next, venture on a short detour to explore the Mawsmai Caves. These caves are famous for their fossils, which you can spot on the cave walls and various formations inside.

Later in the afternoon, you will leave Sohra and drive for 2 hours to reach Mawlynnong. Check in at the designated hotels and enjoy a good night’s rest in Mawlynnong.

Have a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel and prepare to explore Mawlynnong before heading to your next destination i.e. Shnongpdeng.

Check out the famous Living Root Bridge of Mawlynnong. This 250-400 year old bridge made from the roots of ancient living trees is a marvel to watch. From this place, you can catch mesmerising views of the Bangladesh plains.

Next, head to Shnongpdeng, which is a 90-minute drive from Mawlynnong. Enjoy the road trip and soak in stunning valley views full of lush greenery. You will also pass by several beautiful bridges so make sure you keep your eyes open for some amazing views.

Head for a refreshing visit to the Umngot River. Here, you can enjoy boating while seeing your reflection in the transparent river water.

End the day by heading to the hotel or campsite at Shnongpdeng.
