Itinerary

Begin your 5 nights 6 days Meghalaya tour adventure with an arrival at Guwahati airport or railway station. From there, our representative will pick you up and take you to Shillong by private vehicle.
On the way, you will get to explore Umiam Lake (also known as Borapani Lake). This picturesque lake is located just outside Shillong on the Guwahati – Shillong highway. Enjoy scenic views of the lake and the hills beyond.

On reaching Shillong, check in to your hotel and rest for a while. Later, you can enjoy sightseeing activities in and around Shillong.

If you are fond of exploring the history and culture, a visit to Don Bosco Museum will give you a glimpse of Northeast India’s rich history and culture through its traditional music, crafts and dance.

You can then explore Shillong Peak. It is the highest point in Meghalaya and a popular tourist attraction in Shillong. The peak offers mesmerising views of the surrounding countryside, promising an enjoyable place for nature lovers.

Spend the evening at the Police Bazaar, a famous market in Shillong where you can do shopping and savour local street food of Meghalaya.

Head back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Savour a delicious breakfast at the hotel and get ready to explore the attractions of Shillong.

First, you will visit the Elephant Falls, which gets its name from the nearby elephant-shaped rock formations. The picturesque waterfall has tranquil surroundings with beautiful green trees and undulating hills.

Later, head to the Laitlum Canyons, perched atop the East Khasi Hills. This place offers panoramic views that extend over deep valleys, steep cliffs, and rolling hills, making it a must-visit place in Meghalaya.

In the evening, enjoy a rejuvenating stroll at the Ward’s Lake. The cozy lake offers boating and is surrounded by well-tended gardens with flowers and shrubs everywhere. Next to the Ward’s Lake is the Botanical Garden that has a collection of rare trees and plants that will interest botanists and horticulturists.

Later, you can explore the city or relax at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 3 of your 6 days Meghalaya tour itinerary starts with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Today, you will be transferring from Shillong to Sohra (commercially known as Cherrapunjee).

Begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point, popularly known as Duwan Sing Syiem Bridge. It is a beautiful vantage point on the Shillong — Cherrapunjee road. This viewpoint provides a splendid panoramic view of the Valley. The sloping hills from both sides of the valley create a V formation, making it the perfect photo spot. You can enhance your experience by doing zip-lining in the valley.

Drive to reach Wah Kaba Waterfalls. This gigantic waterfall cascades down a cliff into a deep gorge, lending it a beautiful sight to behold. The fall is also surrounded by green hills and nature’s beauty.

Your next stop would be Arwah Caves, a natural cave system hidden amidst green foliage. It is a limestone cave popular for its stalagmites, stalactites and fossil formations. The cave system is believed to be one of the most beautiful and well-preserved in Meghalaya.
Venture ahead to discover the stunning Dain Thlen Falls and Wei-Sawdong Falls. Both the falls are truly marvellous with the former one known for its powerful cascade surrounded by river-bed flats and natural rock pools and the latter one known for its stunning three-tiered fall and scenic surroundings.

After exploring these beautiful waterfalls and the terrain around them, it’s time to head to the hotel in Sohra for an overnight stay.

Enjoy a wholesome breakfast spread at the hotel and head to Nongriat, a village in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

Visit Nohkalikai Waterfalls, said to be the tallest plunge waterfall in India, set 340 metres (1115 feet) high. The waterfall is fed by rainwater, which collects into a pool of green at the bottom. Witness the enchanting sight and breathtaking view of the beautiful waterfall.

Head to the base of the valley where you will find the iconic double-decker root bridge. The descent is as beautiful as the destination with lush green mountains, rivers and bridges appearing at every turn. If time permits, you can further venture to Rainbow Falls.

Alternatively, if you are not up for the steep hike down to Nongriat Village, you can explore other places around Sohra, one being the Seven Sisters Falls. Moreover, a short and easy hike to the top of Nohkalikai Falls offers excellent views and diverse landscape.

Overnight stay at Sohra.

Have your breakfast and check out from Sohra. It is recommended to start your day early. Drive to Pynursla, a land of stunning landscapes and a haven for nature photographers.

Take a detour to Mawkyrnot and explore the Mawkyrnot Root Bridges. There are a total of 5 living root bridges in the area. These bridges are entirely made with the roots of rubber trees. The longest and the most special root bridge is in the Mawkyrnot area, which attracts a large number of tourists for its amazing beauty and the cultural significance.

The scenic Pynursla route takes you further to Dawki town, perched on the banks of the pristine Umngot River. Drive to Shnongpdeng and relax yourself at the river beach or explore the nearby trails.

Alternatively, you can explore Mawlynnong and skip the living root bridge sites as you have already seen two of them.

Overnight stay at Dawki.

You have come to the end of your 5 nights 6 days Meghalaya holiday package. Have a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel and complete your check out formalities.

Take the scenic road trip to Guwahati airport or railway station for your onward journey.
