Mangan- Beautiful Village With Myriad Attractions

Nestled in the lap of the mighty Himalayas, Mangan is a fascinating tourist destination of Sikkim. It is located quite close to the capital city Gangtok (53 km) and also serves as a transit base for travellers travelling to other famous destinations of Sikkim such as Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang.

Dense forests, gorgeous streams, and stunning mountain peaks add all the more beauty to Mangan. It is located at an altitude of 4000 ft above sea level and offers great views of the surroundings.

Reach Mangan By Air

The nearest airport from Mangan is Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal which is around 147 kilometers from it. It is around a 5-hour drive. This airport offers regular flights to and from several major cities of India such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. From the airport, you can travel to Mangan in a private taxi. State-run buses are also available.

Mangan is located 53 km from Gangtok and the most convenient and the only way to reach Mangan is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Mangan. The town is connected to Gangtok by a metalled road.

The good news is that Sikkim has now got its own airport- Pakyong Airport, which will directly connect it with the major cities of India once it’s fully operational. The airport is located in Pakyong village which is around 35 km from south of Gangtok. It is the first airport of Sikkim located at an altitude of 4,590 ft and is one of the highest altitude airports in India. Once it is operational you can easily reach Gangtok in less time.

Reach Mangan By Train

The nearest railway station to Mangan is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in Siliguri, West Bengal. It is around 140 km from Mangan. It is around a 6 hour drive from the airport. Mangan is located 53 km from Gangtok and the most convenient and the only way to reach Mangan is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Mangan. The town is connected to Gangtok by a metalled road.

The railway station is well connected to major cities of India such as Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi. Private as well as shared taxis are available at the airport and in Siliguri.

Reach Mangan By Road

All the major cities and towns in the Sikkim region are well connected to Mangan by road. Mangan is located 53 km from Gangtok and the most convenient and the only way to reach Mangan is to first drive to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Mangan. The town is connected to Gangtok by a metalled road.

Mangan is well connected with cities like Darjeeling, Siliguri, and Gangtok. Private and shared taxis are easily available. Buses are also available from places like Siliguri, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Pelling etc
