Geyzing- The Enchanting Town!

Geyzing, locally known as Gyalshing is not just a fascinating tourist destination but also the capital city of the west Sikkim. It is also an important commercial and trading town of the region. Ideally perched at an altitude of 6,500 feet above the sea level, Geyzing attracts tourists in great numbers. It is surrounded by imposing mountains of the Himalayan range. The western area of the city is endowed with the lovely Rangeet river. Apart from the sheer natural beauty this city has, the monasteries located here make it a must-see attraction of Sikkim. Do visit Yangtey, a hilltop offering breath-taking views of Mt. Kanchenjunga located at a distance of just few kms from Geyzing. Pemayangtse Monastery, located 6 km from this area, is a must-see monastery of Geyzing.

Geyzing In Winter (October To February)

With the beginning of winter in October, the weather of Geyzing becomes very pleasant. As the winter reaches its peak, the temperature of the city sometimes even drops below 0°C. It generally ranges between -10°C to -30°C which means it’s extremely cold at times and travellers must come prepared with heavy woollens. Not many tourists come here during when the winter is at its peak which is in December. It is also the time when you can enjoy snowfall!

Geyzing In Summer (March To June)

Summer season is the most appropriate time to explore the locales and the attractions of Geyzing. During this time the temperature ranges between 18°C to 25°C which makes it a bustling hub of outdoor activities. Summer offers many sightseeing options to tourists.

Geyzing In Monsoon (July To September)

During the monsoon season Geyzing receives mild to moderate rainfall. The town looks lovely and becomes greener. The temperature hovers between 10°C to 15°C. At times due to rainfall moving from one destination to another becomes troublesome and one can’t even enjoy sightseeing. So its better to avoid visiting Geyzing in monsoon.
