TL;DR: Shillong is a comfortable base, not the highlight. Meghalaya's best sights sit 1.5 to 3 hours out, and the season decides what you actually see. We sequence day trips by weather so you don't waste a morning driving to a muddy river or a dry waterfall.
- Shillong is a base, not the star: The waterfalls, canyons and clear rivers are day trips. Sohra (Cherrapunjee) is about 54 km and 2 hours each way; Dawki is roughly 78 km and 2.5 hours. A packed Shillong plan is really a lot of driving.
- Waterfalls peak just after monsoon: Nohkalikai and Seven Sisters are fullest and clearest from September to November. In dry late winter they thin out, and in peak monsoon fog can hide them entirely.
- Dawki's famous clear water is seasonal: The Umngot river runs glass-clear roughly from November to April. In monsoon it turns muddy, so a monsoon Dawki photo will not look like the postcards.
- The double-decker root bridge is a trek, not a photo stop: Nongriat is a 3,000-plus step descent and climb from Tyrna, a half to full day and real effort. Many operators list it and never warn you.
- Sundays and weekend traffic: Shillong largely shuts on Sundays and the Sohra road clogs on weekends, so we time markets and long drives around both.
- How our trips handle it: We order the day trips by weather and season, start early to beat the Sohra-road traffic, and brief you honestly on the Nongriat trek before you commit to it.

How booking works
- Enquire: pick a package or describe your trip and send the enquiry form, or WhatsApp us.
- Get your itinerary: our team calls you, then shares a complete day-by-day itinerary with the exact price. Itineraries are adjustable; swap towns, hotels or activities.
- Confirm: pay the advance (amount decided at the time of enquiry) to lock hotels and cabs. Pay the balance before the services begin. We accept wire transfer (NEFT/RTGS).
- Travel: our representative meets you at Guwahati or Shillong airport, with 24/7 support throughout the trip.
Peak-season note: for peak dates such as Christmas and New Year, full payment may be required in advance.
Cancellation
If you cancel, a written notice must reach us. Charges apply from the date we receive it in writing:
- 30 days or more before arrival: 10% of the tour cost
- 15 to 29 days before arrival: 30% of the tour cost
- 07 days before arrival: 50% of the tour cost
- 48 hours before arrival or no-show: no refund
- Bookings for 20 December to 05 January: non-refundable
- Kaziranga wildlife safaris: non-refundable, and a date-change request counts as a cancellation
- After the tour starts, refunds are limited to what we can recover from hotels and contractors; unused nights, transport and meals are not refunded
Written cancellations are accepted on working days except Sunday; a Sunday notice is treated as received the next working day (Monday). Approved refunds are processed through the same online mode within 10 to 15 working days.

Shillong tour packages cost ₹12,999 to ₹29,999 per person (as of September 2026), depending on duration and hotel category. A 3N/4D Shillong and Cherrapunjee trip starts at ₹12,999; a 6N/7D trip adding Kaziranga is ₹29,999. Flights are not included.
What is included in your Shillong tour packages?
Hotels, airport transfers, private-cab sightseeing, the Guwahati to Shillong drive, meals as per itinerary and listed entry tickets. Not included: flights, adventure activities unless specified, and personal expenses.
Can I customize a Shillong package?
Yes. Towns covered, hotel category, extra nights and activities like Dawki boating or a Kaziranga safari can all be changed. Share your preferences at enquiry and our team sends a revised itinerary and price.
Which duration is best for a first Shillong trip?
4N/5D is the sweet spot: it covers Shillong, Cherrapunjee and Dawki without rushed drives. Add nights for Kaziranga or Mawlynnong. A 3N/4D trip works for a quick Shillong and Sohra getaway.
Do Indian citizens need a permit for Shillong or Meghalaya?
As of September 2026, Indian citizens do not need an Inner Line Permit to visit Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Dawki or Mawlynnong. Meghalaya is introducing a compulsory tourist registration (a virtual ILP); we advise you on any current requirement at booking.
When is the best time to visit Shillong?
September to November gives the fullest waterfalls and clearest views; November to April is best for Dawki's clear-water river. Shillong is pleasant most of the year, but peak monsoon (July to August) can hide waterfalls in fog and muddy the rivers.
How do I reach Shillong?
Fly to Guwahati (GAU), then it is about 100 to 120 km and 3 to 3.5 hours by road to Shillong; this transfer is included in our packages. Kolkata also has direct IndiGo ATR flights to Shillong Airport (SHL) at Umroi, about 35 km from the city. There is no direct Delhi to Shillong flight.
How does booking and payment work?
Pay an advance (amount decided at enquiry) to confirm after we finalise your itinerary; the balance is due before the services begin. The full itinerary is shared before any payment. We accept wire transfer (NEFT/RTGS).
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation charges run from 10% (30+ days before arrival) to 100% (48 hours or no-show), based on written notice. Bookings for 20 December to 05 January are non-refundable, and Kaziranga safaris are non-refundable once booked.
