Sarpang – The Land of Ethnic Groups

This Bhutanese town is extremely rich with rare and exotic wildlife species. The confluence ground of three different protected national parks: Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary, Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park and Royal Manas National Park, Sarpang is undoubtedly the most sought-after destination for nature and wildlife lovers. Visitors to this bucolic town would soon get to enjoy Bhutan’s first ever safari experience.

Sarpang is also revered as one of most culturally rich and diverse towns to visit in Bhutan. With Nepali being the dominant language in this region, one can also find several other primitive groups inhabiting this region along with other prevailing ethnic langaues; East Bodish Kheng language is yet another largely spoken language here.

The town is located within a proximity to the Indian state of Assam; it can be easily reached from Bongaigaon town in Assam via the Gelephu entry point.

Best Time to Visit Sarpang: Spring (March to May), Autumn (September to November), and Winter (December to February)

How to Reach Sarpang

Here are the Indian airports that offer both direct and connecting flights to Paro: Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, Bodhgaya Airport in Gaya (Bihar), Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri (West Bengal), and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati (Assam).

As you land at Paro International Airport, you can take a roadway journey to reach Sarpang from Paro Valley in Bhutan.
