Located in Samtenling Gewog, Gelephu Airport is one of the most recent airports in Bhutan; there are only four airports in Bhutan. Only 3km away from Gelephu town, this domestic airport was inaugurated on the 25th of October in 2012 after a delay of 5 years.
However, with the airport becoming functional, the Royal Bhutanese Government is expecting to create better communication links within and outside the country as well.
