Welcome to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Upon arrival, you will be received by our representative who will escort you to the hotel. The capital city is around 2-hour drive from the Paro International airport of Bhutan. Check into the hotel. Relax, freshen up and then our representative will take you to one of the most fascinating attractions of Thimphu, Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten). Dating back to 1972, it was built in honour of Bhutan’s head of state. It’s beautiful architecture looks like a classical Tibetan stupa capped with a sun and a crescent moon. Its interiors are elaborately carved. We will also take you to Kuenselphodrang, where you will see a huge statue of Shakyamuni Buddha surrounded by lovely valley and mountains. Built in 2015 to commemorate Bhutan's fourth king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s birthday, the statue towers to a height of 51 m. It is a beautiful gold-plated bronze statue. The interior houses around 100,000 Buddha icons.
Drive back to the hotel and the remaining day is at leisure. You can explore the local markets, take leisurely walks and much more.

Enjoy a good breakfast at the hotel and then get ready to explore other amazing attractions of Thimphu. Our representation will take you on a sightseeing tour of Thimphu. We will go to Motithang Takin Preserve, a wonderful wildlife reserve that is steadfastly making efforts to preserve Bhutan's national animal, Takin (Burdorcas Taxicolor). Sprawling across 8.4 acres, the reserve is a great place to catch glimpses of freely roaming Takins. Our representative will take you on a guided tour to explore the reserve.
We will also take you to Dochula Pass where you can enjoy mesmerizing views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains at an elevation of 3,100 m. Other attractions of the Pass are botanical park known for its beautiful rhododendron garden, 108 memorial chortens or stupas and a monastery.
Other major attractions of Thimphu that we will cover are Buddha Dordenma Statue (it is the largest Buddha statue in the world), Tashichho Dzong (the fortified and the largest religious structure in Thimphu) and the Memorial Chorten, a beautiful Buddhist shrine with a gold spire built in the memory of Bhutan’s third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

Post breakfast, get ready to explore some more attractions of Thimphu. Our representative will take you to Gagyel Lhundrup Weaving Centre where you can buy some beautiful souvenirs. This center has been weaving ceremonial fabrics for the royal families of Bhutan for years. Visit the National Museum built in 1649, originally a traditional watchtower. It houses thousands of artefacts, from paintings to bronze statues etc. Also, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest Buddhist temples of Bhutan built in the 7th century. Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge is another wonderful attraction. It is 600 year old bridge.
