Example: A 5N/6D drive-in trip is ₹20,999 (package) + ₹6,000 SDF (5 nights × ₹1,200) + your transport to the Phuentsholing border, per person (as of September 2026). Driving in via Phuentsholing keeps costs down; flying into Paro saves a day or two but raises the all-in cost sharply.

What Most Bhutan Package Prices Don't Tell You
TL;DR: A cheap Bhutan grid is almost always land-only and road-based, with the SDF added on top. How you enter, and which nights the SDF applies to, changes the real cost more than the hotel does.
- The SDF is per night, not per trip: ₹1,200 × every night above the border towns. A 6-night trip is ₹7,200 in SDF alone, on top of the package.
- Border-town loophole: A stay of up to 24 hours in Phuentsholing, Samtse, Gelephu or Samdrup Jongkhar is SDF-free. The moment you head up to Thimphu, it applies to every night.
- Drive vs fly is the biggest lever: Entering via Phuentsholing keeps costs down; the Paro flight saves a day or two but is among the pricier short-haul sectors in the region.
- Voter ID works: Indians can enter on a passport or an original Voter ID card. Aadhaar and driving licences are not accepted at immigration.
- Route permits are separate: Beyond Thimphu and Paro, every district (Punakha, Wangdue, Bumthang, Haa) needs a route permit. Confirm your operator arranges them before you book.
How we handle it: we sequence the permits, time the border-town night so it works in your favour, and quote the package and the SDF as two clear figures so nothing lands as a surprise at a checkpoint.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
How booking works
- Enquire: pick a package or describe your trip and send the enquiry form, or WhatsApp us.
- Get your itinerary: our team calls you, then shares a complete day-by-day itinerary with the exact price. It is adjustable; swap hotels, valleys or duration.
- Confirm: pay the advance (amount decided at enquiry) to hold the booking and lock hotels and permits. The balance is paid before the services commence. Peak-season bookings (20 Dec to 05 Jan) require full payment in advance. We accept wire transfer.
- Travel: permits sorted, guide and private cab ready, with support through the trip.
Cancellation
- 30 days before arrival: 10% of the tour cost
- 15 to 29 days before arrival: 30% of the tour cost
- 7 days before arrival: 50% of the tour cost
- Within 48 hours or no-show: no refund
- Cancellations must be in writing; notices sent on a Sunday are treated as received the next working day. Refunds are processed by the same mode in 10 to 15 working days.
- The 20 Dec to 05 Jan period is non-refundable. After a trip has started, refunds are limited to what we can recover from hotels and contractors; unused nights, transport and meals are not refundable. Wildlife safaris, where included, are non-refundable and date changes count as cancellations.

How much does a Bhutan tour package cost for Indians?
eSikkim Tourism's Bhutan tour packages start from ₹10,999 per person for a 3-night trip, rising to about ₹20,999 for 5 nights, ₹24,999 for 6 nights, ₹29,999 for 7 nights and ₹39,000 for a 9-night central-Bhutan itinerary, all per person on a land-only basis (as of September 2026). On top you pay the SDF of ₹1,200 per person per night and your own transport to the entry point.
What is included in your Bhutan tour packages?
Accommodation in certified hotels on breakfast-and-dinner basis, a licensed guide, a private cab with driver for all transfers and sightseeing, entry and route permits, monument fees and most meals. Not included: your flight or train to the entry point, the SDF, travel insurance and personal expenses.
Can I customise a Bhutan package?
Yes. Hotel category, duration, valleys covered and the fly-in-versus-drive-in choice can all be changed. Share your dates and preferences in the enquiry form or on WhatsApp and our team sends a revised itinerary and price.
Which package duration is best for a first Bhutan trip?
Five to six nights is the sweet spot. It covers Thimphu, Punakha and Paro and keeps a full day for the Tiger's Nest hike without rushing. Three to four nights works only as a quick fly-in escape; seven nights or more lets you add Punakha properly or push to central Bhutan's Bumthang.
Do Indians need a permit or visa for Bhutan?
Indian nationals do not need a visa, but they do need an entry permit, plus a route permit to travel beyond Thimphu and Paro. You can apply online in advance at immi.gov.bt or get it at Paro airport or the Phuentsholing border; applying online is recommended to avoid checkpoint queues. We arrange the route permits.
Is the SDF included in the package price?
No. The Sustainable Development Fee of ₹1,200 per person per night for Indians (USD 100 for foreign nationals) is quoted separately and paid on top of the land package. Children aged 6 to 12 get a 50% concession and kids age 5 and below are exempted.
How does booking and payment work?
Pay an advance (amount decided at enquiry) to confirm the booking once your itinerary is finalised; the balance is due before the services begin. Peak-season dates (20 Dec to 05 Jan) need full payment in advance. The full itinerary is shared before any payment. We accept wire transfer.
What is your cancellation policy?
10% is retained for cancellations 30 days before arrival, 30% for 15 to 29 days, 50% for 7 days, and there is no refund within 48 hours or for a no-show. The 20 Dec to 05 Jan period is non-refundable. Cancellations must be in writing and refunds are processed in 10 to 15 working days.
Can I combine Bhutan with Sikkim or Darjeeling?
Yes. Because the Phuentsholing border is close to Bagdogra and NJP, Bhutan combines well with Sikkim, Darjeeling and the Dooars on a single overland trip, and eSikkim Tourism runs a ready Gangtok-with-Bhutan itinerary. It needs careful permit sequencing, which our local team plans regularly.
What currency and documents should I carry?
The Bhutanese Ngultrum is pegged 1:1 to the Indian Rupee and INR is widely accepted, though ₹500 notes can be refused, so carry smaller denominations. Indians enter on a valid passport (six months validity) or an original Voter ID card; Aadhaar and driving licences are not accepted.
