DAL LAKE

A mystical lake, without which Srinagar would not be as gorgeous as it is, Dal Lake is the main attraction point in the city. Also called the ‘Jewel in the Crown of Kashmir’ or ‘Srinagar’s Crown’, this stunning lake is the second largest lake in the entire of Jammu and Kashmir.

With the shores of the lake jotted with scenic gardens and parks, this is the lake that has been featured in more than score of Bollywood movies till now! Known for its magical beauty, the shikaras in this lake is yet another not-to-missed attraction. Without a shikara ride in the Dal Lake, your Srinagar visit will never be complete!

SHALIMAR BAGH

One of the most beautiful Mughal Gardens in the entire country, the Shalimar Bagh in Srinagar is truly a colourful gift of the nature. Built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangi, this lush and green garden is jotted with rare as well as exotic species of flora and dates back to the 2nd century. Located on the right bank of the Dal Lake, this Persian modelled garden is a three-terraced garden is a testimony to the architectural grandeurs of the past and is laced with several landmarks and structures that once served the royals. Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Zenana Terrace, Black Pavilion, Shah Nahar and the magnificent 410 fountains within the premises are the main attraction points of this garden.

NISHAT BAGH

Located on the eastern side of the scenic Dal Lake, Nishat Bagh is the second largest Mughal Garden in Jammu and Kashmir. Also known as the ‘Garden of Delight’ or ‘Garden of Joy’, this magnificent garden is nestled amidst captivating hills and mountains and is also one of the major attraction points in Srinagar. With the Zabarwan Mountains forming as the backdrop, this twelve-terraced garden also offers astounding views of the great Pir Panjal Range.

CHASHME SHAHI

Overlooking the gorgeous Dal Lake, this Mughal Garden in Srinagar is perched in the Zabarwan Range and is also called the ‘Royal Spring’. Measuring around 108×38 metres, this tranquil garden is a mixed blend of Mughal and Irani architecture.

PARI MAHAL

Around five minutes away from Chashme Shahi, Pari Mahal is also one of the must visit gardens in Srinagar. Located on the south-western part of the Dal Lake, this flamboyant garden overlooks Srinagar and is also known as the ‘Abode of the Fairies’.

NAGIN LAKE

Another quintessential lake in Srinagar, the Nagin Lake is also known as the ‘Jewel in the Ring’ and is amongst the most scenic lakes in Jammu and Kashmir. INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL TULIP GARDEN

The largest tulip garden in Asia, this lush and verdant garden in Srinagar is located at the foothills of the captivating Zabarwan Range and overlooks the Dal Lake. Opened during 2006-2007, the garden was initially named as ‘Model Floriculture Centre’, but was renamed as Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden.
