About the Trek

The Yuksom Dzongri trek in Sikkim might be one of the shortest treks, yet it makes it to the list of the most sought after treks of the Himalayas. Within the 5 days of this exhilarating trek, you can witness and enjoy the most captivating views of some of the major Himalayan peaks.

An exquisite high altitude trek in Sikkim, the Yuksom Dzongri completes a circuit around Yuksom while making its way through Tsokha and Dzongri.Each of the days of this amazing trek is planned in a way, you will surely enjoy them at the best! In addition the magnificent views of the Mt. Kanchendzonga 9595m), Mt. Pandim (6691m), Mt. Kabur (South/7317m, North/7338m), Mt. Kumbhakarna (7710m), Mt. Simvo (6811m), Mt. Kabru (6108m), Mt. Rathong (6679m), Goecha Peak (5127m) and several other peaks, makes this trek one of the best treks in Sikkim.

Itinerary

DAY 1 : Yuksam to Tshoka (3000 m) (Trek: 6-7 Hours)

Begin with this exciting trekking expedition with a trek through the Rathong Valley. Hike through the semi-tropical forest, after which the climb is expected to get a bit tough and will gain height. After trekking for around 6-7 hours, you will finally reach the beautiful Tibetan village of Tshoka. Known for its spectacular beauty and charm, your overnight stay will be arranged in a camp or a trekker’s hut within the village.

Today’s trek will be one of the most exciting phase of the entire trek. From Tshoka, the terrains that you have to follow will be zigzag and filled with colourful rhododendrons. The zigzag trails will continue till you reach Phedang and after this, they get much clear. Idea time for this trek is April-May as during this period, the entire route displays a number of colourful wild flowers. From here, continue trekking along the Dzongri ridge till you reach the campsite, where you can spend overnight.

After continious days of trekking, today you will take some good rest and get properly acclimatised to the higher altitude climates.

From today onwards, you will start trekking back to the point from where you started this trek. Today, retrace the routes that got you to Dzongri and trek back to Tshoka.

With your today’s trek from Tshoka to Dzongri, you will be completing this exciting trek in Sikkim. Arriving in Yuksam, you can check in into a hotel or start your return journey to home.
